The diameter of each needle also differs. Usually, the more needles it has the more rusts or area of rusts it can knock off in one go. The number of needles can range from 12 to 19. Air needle scalers usually come with different number of needles on each one. Needle size and quantity is also something you need to consider. Personally, I generally prefer the pistol grip handles, since you can easily grip it better and apply more pressure on the surface you’re working on, especially when working in an open area where space is not a concern. So, consider the handle you’re going for when choosing an air needle scaler. No matter the type of handle it comes with, a longer unit will be hard to fit into tight quarters. You should also consider the total length of the tool when making your choice. You can easily slip that under your truck and knock off some rust from the frame or chassis. On the other hand, they fit more into tighter spaces because of their streamline design. Straight handles however can also be held pretty easily, but you can’t apply the same amount of pressure on the tool and surface you’re working on as when you’re using one with a pistol grip handle. On the other hand, they’re often larger, heavier and can be quite difficult to use in tight spaces, like under your truck. Pistol grip handles are generally easier to hold, and it’s fairly easy to apply more pressure on the surface you’re preparing while using one with a pistol grip handle. These two handle types offer different advantages and disadvantages. A pistol grip handle, and a straight handle. There are two types of handles you’ll have to choose from. One of the first things most pros consider when choosing an air needle scaler is the type of handle it comes with. Here’s what you should consider before choosing a pneumatic needle scaler for your projects Type of handle or grip What to Consider When Choosing an Air Needle Scaler When using it however, you should wear gloves and a suitable eye protection as the needle scaler can cause the rusts or weld slags to fly everywhere randomly. Then you can move on to another area and so on. To start scaling the surface, hold it at an angle of 45 degrees to the work surface and work it across the surface, taking care not to cover too large an area at once.Ībout 2 or 3 passes over a 6 or 8 inch area is usually enough to clean that area. This you can do with solvents or a combination of fresh water and ditergent. There are other methods of scaling or removing rust, old paint and other foreign materials off the surface of metal, but the needle scaler has advantage over the rest because each of the needles adjusts itself to the contours of the material being cleaned, which makes it ideal for scaling irregular surfaces.īefore using it on any surface however, it’s important to prepare the surface first by removing any greese, chemicals, oil and any water-soluble contaminants. We’ve reviewed several models in this article with each of them offering different numbers of needles, operating speeds and power levels. These needles moving at these speeds force chips of every dirt, rust and old paint off the surface. When connected to a compressed air source, the tool forces these needles against the metal surface it’s applied on at variable speeds up to around 5000 times per minutes measured in BPM (Bumps Per Minute). The needle scaler comprises a set of very fine chisels which are known as the needles. At 9:30 I will teach a class on “Friendship as a Key to the Bible.” This Sunday, September 19, I am to preach at Good Shepherd in Cedar Hill, Tex. Pray also that God will raise up for us new and faithful candidates for the ordained ministry. Spare a thought this week for the ministers in your own parish, lay people whose lives are God's ministry in the world as well as your clergy, and for the bishops of our church and around the world. Similarly, Ember Days come in Advent (in the second week), Lent (in the first week), and in the week of Pentecost. The autumnal Ember Days begin on the first Wednesday after Holy Cross Day (Sept 14) and thus, in 2021, they are Sept 15, 17, and 18. They come in threes: Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. They come, roughly, at the turns of the seasons. Even as these more minor observances have been “backgrounded” to the primary observances of the liturgical year, they should not be forgotten, but are instead the very sorts of things that give structure and pacing to time. They are rather old fashioned, but they are also old: the Ember Days, times for praying for the ministry of the church and especially for ordained ministers. The custom of fasting on Wednesday and Friday has extremely deep Christian roots, and the ember days are a survival of that custom. Similarly, the Brotherhood of Saint Gregory requires us brothers to undertake a self examination of our observance of the Rule, and write a written report to our minister provincial. In the Episcopal Church, there is a canonical requirement that postulants and candidates for holy orders must report to their bishop on the ember days. The Episcopal Church no longer lists them as fast days, but it might be a nice thing to take whatever one’s normal Friday observance is and extend it to today and this Saturday (and the other ember days too) for this reason. The point was to break the year four times, with a pause for self examination and calling oneself to holiness of life and ministry. The abandonment of these days by the Roman Catholic Church is a particular shame, because while these became customary times for ordination, that was never the point. In typical Anglican fashion, we still have them, but with complete permission to celebrate them on the traditional days or at other times. (And for complex liturgical reasons, all but the September ember days had essentially vanished from the liturgy in the Roman Catholic Church anyhow.) In practice the observance of these days has simply evaporated in the Roman Catholic Church. As with the Rogation days, the Roman Catholic Church decided in the 1960s that these should be decided locally, to coincide with local conditions since every diocese has its own times for ordaining people, the observance of ember days should be chosen to suit that diocese’s customs. The ember days became traditional times for ordination, and so the collects for ember days in the Book of Common Prayer are focused on the ministry: one for those to be ordained, one for the choice of fit persons for the ministry, and one for all Christians in their vocation. But what, you ask, is an ember day? The term is a shortening and mutation of the Latin “quatuor tempora,” which means “four seasons” or “four times.” These are three fast days, a Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, appointed near the beginning of each season in September, December, the beginning of Lent, and the week after Pentecost. Today is the first of the three summer ember days. Rather than port the code to Android, a wrapper was created to translate Java ME API calls to Android API calls. On 27 February 2008, Opera Software announced that Google would henceforth be the default search engine for Opera Mini and Opera Mobile.Ī version for the Android operating system was announced on 10 April 2008. On 8 January 2007, Opera Software and Yahoo! announced a partnership to make Yahoo! search the default instead. Originally, Google was the default search engine on Opera Mini. Opera Mini 4 replaced Opera Mini Advanced. Prior to Opera Mini 4, the browser was offered in two editions: Opera Mini Advanced for high-memory MIDP 2 phones, and Opera Mini Basic for low-memory MIDP 1 phones. This version also includes the ability to synchronise with Opera on a personal computer. Using a built-in pointer, the user can zoom into a portion of the page to provide a clearer view this is similar to the functionality of Opera's Nintendo-based web browsers. In Overview mode, the user can scroll a zoomed-out version of certain web pages. Opera Mini 4 includes the ability to view web pages similarly to a desktop based browser by introducing Overview and Zoom functions, and a landscape view setting. According to Johan Schön, technical lead of Opera Mini development, the entire code had been rewritten. On 7 November 2007, Opera Mini 4 was released. A second beta was released on 22 November, and on 28 November, the final version of Opera Mini 3 was released. Content folding works by folding long lists such as navigation bars into a single line that can be expanded as needed. On 1 November 2006, Opera Mini 3 beta introduced secure browsing, RSS feeds, photo uploading and content folding. It included new features such as the ability to download files, new custom skins, more search engine options on the built-in search bar, a speed dial option, new search engines, and improved navigation. After the final version was launched in Germany on 10 November 2005, and quietly released to all countries through the Opera Mini website in December, the browser was officially launched worldwide on 24 January 2006. The beta version was made available in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland on 20 October 2005. It was introduced on 10 August 2005, as a pilot project in cooperation with the Norwegian television station TV 2, and only available to TV 2 customers. Opera Mini was originally intended for use on mobile phones not capable of running a conventional Web browser. Opera Mini was derived from the Opera web browser for personal computers, which has been publicly available since 1996. This represented an increase of 25 million users from September 2012. In February 2013, Opera reported 300 million unique Opera Mini active users and 150 billion page views served during that month. In July 2012, Opera Software reported that Opera Mini had 168.8 million users as of March 2012. However, interactive sites which depend upon the device processing JavaScript do not work properly. The pre-processing increases compatibility with web pages not designed for mobile phones. The compression ratio is 90% and the transfer speed is increased by two to three times as a result. The compression server processes and compresses requested web pages before sending them to the mobile phone. Opera Mini requests web pages through Opera Software's compression proxy server. Opera Mini was derived from the Opera web browser. It had previously been developed for iOS, Windows 10 Mobile, Windows Phone 8.1, BlackBerry, Symbian, and Bada. It was primarily designed for the Java ME platform, as a low-end sibling for Opera Mobile, but as of 2022 only the Android build was still under active development. Opera Mini is a mobile web browser made by Opera. Nokia X family, Samsung feature phones, devices by Celkon, Karbonn, Lava, Intex, Fly, Zen, HCL ME, and other manufacturers
Although the Sounders would never again play before a crowd of this size, their attendance continued to grow, as they moved to the playoffs once again. Despite the intensity of the Vancouver-Seattle-Portland "I-5 rivalry" it was the moneyed Cosmos that would prove to be the Sounders' true nemesis. The home team lost 3-1 to the Pele-driven Cosmos. In 1976 the Sounders moved to the "state-of-the-art" Kingdome (where there was no chance of rain, but they did have to deal with the evils of AstroTurf), facing the New York Cosmos in the first event ever in the new stadium, before a sold-out crowd of 58,128. Even more unusual, it never rained on the team in any of the games played in either of the years the Sounders played in Memorial Stadium. They also achieved their goal of making the playoffs in only their second season. Based on their first season success, seating was expanded in 1975, and in July 1975 the team set a NASL attendance record with a crowd of 17,925, a number they achieved two more times that year. They played to six sellout crowds in their inaugural season, and despite a rocky start, the team ended the season with a 10-3-7 record, narrowly missing the playoffs. Playing in Seattle Center's Memorial Stadium, the Sounders hosted the first sell-out crowd (13,876) in NASL history on June 22, 1974. Unlike many expansion teams (think of, say, the Mariners), the Sounders made an instant impact on both the league and city. A month later, Sounders was selected as the winning name, beating out over 3,000 other suggestions, including "Mariners" (one of the finalists). Seattle's entry was owned by a group of local businessmen and women who promptly named John Best coach of the team, and held a "name the team" contest. (Portland would enter the league in 1975). The team began in December 1973, when the North American Soccer League (NASL), founded in 1967, decided upon a course of westward expansion, hoping that this would stabilize the rocky league, awarding franchises to Seattle and Vancouver, British Columbia. The last five years were both glorious and awful, marked by inconsistency and high drama. The first five years saw steady growth, and are considered, by those in the know, to be the Camelot years. The soccer team, which existed for 10 years, seemingly suffered from a split personality. Instead, it evokes fond memories of the likes of Davy Butler, Adrian Webster, Tommy Hutchison, and the early years of the Seattle Sounders. To longtime Seattle soccer fans, "Camelot" doesn't bring to mind images of knights and round tables. In this People's History, Heather Johnson writes about the Sounders, their rabid fanbase, and their pesistent nemesis, the New York Cosmos. In their early seasons, they routinely packed Memorial Stadium at the Seattle Center in later years, they drew massive crowds to the Kingdome. The orginal Seattle Sounders played in the North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1974 until 1983. If this location is not available, there’s an option to upgrade the windows to impact-resistant and even bulletproof windows. Look for a location without any outside-facing windows, or a room with no windows at all. The location should have as few points of entry as possible. While every property is unique, you can consider the following factors when picking a location for your safe room: Your door leaf and hinge must also be strong enough to withstand impact and abuse without allowing entry.Ĭamouflaging a safe room door into the surrounding walls can be a great way to improve the room’s security, and you can try getting custom safe room doors from certified manufacturers if you’d like to conceal/camouflage the door. If necessary, switch out the frames with solid steel frames to ensure the door is properly secured to the surrounding wall. Make sure the door frames are also strong enough to support the door (some reinforced safe room doors include door frames). Opening a vault room with a broken lock can be extremely difficult and expensive, and sometimes it’s permanent. Locking systems that aren’t UL-approved may be more affordable, which may lower the cost of the safe room door, but not only these locking systems are less secure, but they are also often prone to failure. Make sure the door is equipped with a strong enough multi-point locking system that has UL-approved Group 2 standard or better. One for convenient, day-to-day use, and another more robust system to lock the door during an emergency or when you are away from the property. However, if the door is designed to secure both valuables and people, then you may want to consider having two different locking systems (or one versatile system). All safe room doors should have a standard internal release feature to prevent those who know the combination of the door from being trapped inside the room. If the door is only designed to secure valuables, we only need to pay attention to a locking system to securely lock the door from the outside. The most important consideration when choosing between different safe room doors is whether the safe room would be used only to store valuable items, people, or both. Here are some key considerations when choosing a safe room door according to the threat level of your property: Earthquakes Choosing a Secure Safe Room Door.Extreme wind events (hurricanes, tornadoes). Will criminals in your area use axes and hammers in the event of break-ins.Whether weapon assaults are common in your area. The crime rate in your location and the type of crimes that often occur. When building a safe room, it’s crucial to first identify the potential threats and hazards the safe room is supposed to protect you from. The criteria for this type of a safe room are regulated in FEMA P-361 guidance.įor many other people, however, a safe room is desiged to primarily provide protection in the event of break-ins, fire hazards, earthquakes, and even impact/ballistic assaults. Here, we will discuss all you need to know about purchasing a safe room door, as well as some actionable tips for building the perfect safe room on your property.Ī safe room, or also called a panic room, according to FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) is a room with a hardened structure that is specifically designed to provide near-total protection in hurricanes, tornadoes, and other extreme wind incidents. This is why it’s very important to make sure to choose a sufficiently strong and secure safe room door based on your room’s unique needs. This is as opposed to a vault room, that’s only designed to store and secure valuables inside it.įor both safe rooms and vault rooms, the safe room door is the most important feature to think about when designing the room: it is the only part of the room designed to allow people in, so it’s the first thing criminals would target in the event of break-ins. Physical lines that guide the eye around a page I hope you find this tutorial helpful and bid you a fond farewell on your drawing journey.Learn how you can draw… or learn how to THINK when you DRAW with the Etherington Brothers! I sketched out this sword and added a dragon at the top of the handle just to add some pizzazz to the sketch. The most collected samurai swords are from the WWI and WWII era, having said all that this tutorial shows you the easiest way to draw a Samurai sword or Katana sword with step by step instructions. The samurai sword has been a popular item that is collected by people from all over the world. After assisting the people he would then travel through a portal to another location until he faces the enemy that took the lives of his parents. His main goal was to get revenge for the death of his parents but is always side tracked by helping villagers defeat the foes that terrorize the people that live there. A cartoon series called Samurai Jack is also a cartoon about a young samurai that grew up an orphan and was trained by a great samurai master. The other mainstream movie that had a Katana sword the main weapon for a blonde headed girl that was out for revenge because she was shot in the head and left to die while she was pregnant was Kill Bill vol. He is later trained to fight like a samurai and becomes friends with the people of the village and the captain and falls in love with the Japanese woman that was instructed to care fro him. With the film “The Last Samurai” Tom Cruise plays a solider that has been taken prisoner by the samurai army of Japan. The samurai sword has become a very popular weapon that’s been used in numerous motion pictures and cartoons. The Katana sword became a standardized issue for soldiers over time, these swords where being forged by the hundreds during the years 1190-1337 and many of them had assigned National Treasures. The way these swords where carried on the soldiers were blade side up in a sleeve that was attached to the hip and hung down the side of the leg. The reason for the creation of the Katana samurai sword was to equip the Japanese Calvary so they can perform sneak attacks on their enemies. These weapons have been a part of Japanese culture for centuries, the most popular of all swords is the Katana sword with the first being developed in the 10th century. In this tutorial you will earn how to draw one of the most well known types of sword, the Samurai sword. For the sleeve all you have to do is draw a very oblong and narrow shape that is squared at both ends. Draw the handle next by just making a moon shaped that starts on one side and ends on the other, then the boxed handle at the end. Now do the exact same thing for the bottom of the blade until both sword ends meet at the handle. It has a faint curve to it right in the center so keep that in mind. Starting at the tip, try and keep your hand steady and draw one long line for the top of the blade. Because this is going to be a very simple tutorial to sketch or draw out I didn't use any vertical or horizontal lines going down the middle. Okay lets start off this step by drawing the frame and the sword sleeve. Starting at the tip, try and keep y our hand steady and draw one long line for the top of the blade. |
